German Apple Cake

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F
  2. Mix wet ingredients (butter, sugar, vanilla extract, lemon juice, milk, and eggs)
  3. Mix dry ingredients (flour, baking powder and salt)
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients to form a batter.
  5. Grease bottom of 9" or 10" spring form pan.
  6. Spread batter on bottom of pan.
  7. Coat apple slices with cinnamon powder and nutmeg, then spread on top of batter with the round part of the quarters facing up.
  8. Bake in lower third of oven for about 45 minutes until slightly browned. When done, a toothpick should come out clean.
  9. Sprinkle powdered sugar on top.
  10. Let cake cool before serving.
